The JanSport Backpack Returns!

After about 30 minutes the cab driver came back with Katia's bag. It's nice to see that kind of honesty! It was a good thing that we got the bag back; it had Katia's new digital SLR, as well as her glasses AND contacts, and all of her school stuff.... it would have been a long trip without that bag.

We learned from the hotel staff that the bus is the best way to get around the island, and you can flag one down in front of the hotel entrance. When we packed up for the afternoon and headed down to the road, we realized that we had no idea what the buses looked like- and didn't want to flag down anything that looks like a bus, so we asked a nearby walker. It turns out that he is also here for the field course, and had been to Nassau before- so together we were able to locate and stop a bus. We took a walk around town with Trevor and had some conch fritters (apparently that's the big thing here). We spent some time walking around the downtown area, but didn't find anything too impressive.
The "Straw Market" is more of a "Fake Purse and Pirated DVD Market".... although they did have some interesting crafts. The the whole town seems to be set up for the cruise ships unloading consumers, but it was interesting to see the downtown area.

Back at the hotel we took a nice long nap this evening, and we're planning on heading down to the beach after dinner here at the hotel. The hotel is no resort- and I wouldn't go in the pool if you paid me, but it's very beachy- and the staff is very nice!
